A couple of weeks ago I took up a challenge where I would take any topic and relate it to gaming. I think i succeeded to a greater or lesser extent. It got me thinking of other challenges I’ve taken up and my success with them.

At Apathy Games we’re big fans of complex characters. What if we took a simple character and instead of making huge complicated mess for them instead made a messy complicated world?
Take a good hard look at your game with all of its bells, whistles, and shiny splat books. Do you really need all of that to play a good game? What if we peeled all of it back and restored it to its original table specs? The rules that you just need to play the game. Throw out those house rules and extra bits and just got back to the business of gaming.
The only difference between Pokemon and the mechanics of every table top game I’ve ever played is that instead of rolling dice, I repeatedly smash the A button. As much as the games may be shunned, at heart is a tried and true RPG.
I’m hard pressed to accept failure, especially in a game like D&D. The cost of being a hero in a fantasy game is low. Yes there is a momentary value to failure (death specifically) but it’s offset by that you can come back.
