Savage Mondays – September 12, 2011

Each week we update you regarding everything Savage Worlds, including news from Pinnacle, the licensees, and the community, as well as the Forum Top Five.

Unfortunately the Forums were quiet this week but we still have plenty of Savage News to deliver. With new figs, settings, and comics it’s been a busy news week.

Totems of the Dead: Players Guide to the Untamed lands

It’s always exciting to see new settings arrive into the fold of the Savage Licenses.  Looking at this setting (from description and art) it immediately reminds me of sword and sorcery in the vain of Conan which is not a bad thing.  I’ll be acquiring the preview of the book for later reading.

Know, noble reader, that before you lies a savage new world of sword and sorcery like no other.

A terrible new age has dawned upon the Untamed Lands. The shining age of the ancestors is crumbling beneath a rising tide of blood and slaughter. Here lie the civilizations of the Untamed Lands, warring with their neighbors just to survive as their crops and game dwindle. The Skadians with their dragon-prowed ships, the Shenese with their wealth of silk and steel, the Maztlani with their obsidian edged blades and the Tribal Confederacies with the unbreakable strength of many arrows. Ruskar invaders stain the snow crimson while Atlantean war parties ravage the eastern shores. Meanwhile the serpent folk lie coiled to strike the warring human nations.

Hither lies a land in need of heroes.

Gird yourself for adventure and harden your heart against nameless things lurking in shadow. Explore the cliff-side ruins of the ancient Stone Shapers and seek treasures in the abandoned monuments of the Mound Raisers. Face off against vile sorcerers, simian sasquatch, the impervious Uktena serpent and ravenous wendigo or beat back elder horrors reawakened from ages long past. Live, love, slay and celebrate each victory as though it may be your last.

Savage Worlds Deluxe Errata & Character Sheet Now Available

Pinnacle has been busy again with their free releases. This week we see the release of the Errata and the Character Sheet for Savage Worlds Deluxe.

It’s funny, now. As a publisher going through your game, you always find little tweaks you want to make after the fact. It becomes easier, if your product is digital, to provide these updates, but it’s always embarrassing. Oh well. Pick these up to get your game running right.

You can download the Savage Worlds Deluxe Errata & Savage Worlds Deluxe Character Sheet from Pinnacle’s Downloads page.

Seal the Rift!

I’m excited to see the Savage Worlds version of this game finally released! Having playtested it a while back, I can say that’s well worth the money you’ll throw down on the product. The game is fun and plays as a nice dungeon crawl. Just make sure to let the White Haired Men know what you think of it!

From RPGNow:

He waited, standing like a statue just inside the entrance of the Administration Wing. He had not moved in a thousand years, having no need of food or rest, and never suffering from fatigue. He existed to serve his master, which gave him pleasure. And every moment of those thousand years was pleasing, for his Master had bid him to wait.

Then a whisper of thought brushed his mind. His eyes regained focus and he turned his head, recognizing the pyramid of mummified Harlass Orn corpses he had carefully assembled so long ago. He sensed his Master’s voice, faint yet unmistakable. The rift had opened again, and Agurth-Plaga called to him.

Months have passed since the Harlass Orn were freed from the Veilwalker Dreamseeker in The Dreamers Awaken adventure. One of the survivors, the scholar-mage Zzhastor Brune, learns that the people of Kith’takharos have begun using the ancient Harlass Orn Teleportation Towers. These towers precipitated the Harlass Orn downfall, for the magic employed in tower teleportation opened a rift that allowed the extra-dimensional Veilwalkers to enter normal space and destroy the Harlass Orn.

Seal the Rift! is a Savage Worlds adventure for 4-6 Heroic characters, with an estimated 15 hours of playing time. Zzhastor Brune teleports the characters into Nhamah, where they will navigate the automated defenses before confronting a powerful Veilwalker construct determined to prevent the Aether Bind from being activated.

Savage Worlds Deluxe Changes: Interludes

Expanding their free rules releases even more, this week we see an update to the interlude rules. These are the rules as they appear in the new Savage Worlds Deluxe.

After a review of them, they are quite brilliant and simple to use and explain. They’ll help quickly enhance the game any time you have a moment of down time.

From Pinnacle:

We continue presenting you the changes from Savage Worlds: Explorer’s Edition to Savage Worlds Deluxe available as PDFs. Today, the new Interludes Rules from Savage Worlds Deluxe are available on our Downloads page.

These rules were originally released in Zombie Run and added as a free web enhancement at the same time. The new Interlude Rules are faster and more flexible, but still just as fun!

These join last week’s posting of the new Chase Rules. Keep watching the homepage as we roll out the rest of the changes in the coming weeks!

Deadlands Miniatures

It’s exciting to see Pinnacle to move into other areas in the Deadlands property, with the Dime Novels and now Miniatures. Unfortunately the pictures are a bit small but the detailing looks pretty good.  Personally I love the look of Reverend Grimme with his book held high, but it may be my personal love of clerics.

From Pinnacle:

The first set of Savage Worlds Miniatures are available on our web store at Studio 2 Publishing. We’re starting out with the most famous faces from our most famous line—Deadlands’ Reckoners!

Don’t miss your chance to cut Reverend GrimmeRavenDr. Darius Hellstromme, and Stone down to size—miniature size, that is! Grab ‘em today!
