It’s a Savage World out there, and if we’re going to survive it, we’d best keep an eye out. Apathy Games does just that. Every Monday we bring you the latest news and ideas about the Savage Worlds game. For those who don’t know what this whole savage worlds thing is, we hope to have a guide for you soon. In the meantime, check out the Playtest Rules. Here’s what’s happening now:
Pinnacle Entertainment Group
- Our Masters of All Things Savage, Pinnacle Entertainment Group, have released the PDF version of the Super Powers Companion. This is a refinement of the rules from Necessary Evil, combined with resources for running a supers campaign, including a system for building complex Headquarters, and pages filled with super-villain opponents. The Super Powers Companion is also available as a bundle with a print version, expected to release in April 2010.
- The errata for the second printing of the Savage Worlds: Explorer’s Edition has been out for a while now, but Pinnacle has posted a link to a fan made errata sheet [.PDF file] that can be cut out and pasted directly into your book.
- For those who want to support Pinnacle directly, but can’t justify the exorbitant shipping fees, the Studio 2 Store has begun using USPS as a shipping option.
Savage Worlds Licensees
- Triple Ace Games has a new adventure for Daring Tales of the Sprawl. Tail Chasing has the players hunting down a stolen prototype, but like everything in cyberpunk, nothing is straightforward.
- There are also reports that the Hellfrost Gazetteer and Hellfrost Bestiary are available at your friendly neighborhood game store.
- The recently re-branded Savage Mojo (previously Talisman Studios) has just released the Savage Suzerain Player’s Guide. Suzerain is a world of multiple alternate realities. The players are pulled by the powers of the multiverse into adventure and power as they work their way up to godhood. The Savage Suzerain Player’s Guide contains rules, edges, a guidelines for playing demigod characters.
- Tri-Tac Games has announced that work has begun on a conversion of their Fringeworthy setting of pulp science fiction. Fringeworthy has been around since the early eighties, and is a welcomed addition of the Savage Worlds library.
Savage Worlds Community
- Smiling Jack’s Bar and Grill, after a long delay, has released episode 2 of their podcast [68 minutes], wherein they are joined by Savage Worlds developers Joel Kinstle, Clint Black, and Matt Cutter. They discuss the MACE 2009 convention, and the general success of Savage Worlds.
- Savagepedia, the premier Savage Worlds wiki, has an updated list of fan made professional edges worth checking out.
- PEGinc Forum user Magnus is working on rules for playing American football under Savage Worlds. He wishes to run a conversion of Rookie, a future setting where alien masters have enslaved humanity and created a galactic football league.
- Lastly, in a thread discussing house rules for disguise, user 77IM has created an elegant system with associated edge you’ll definitely want to check out.
